Video: Watch Kitchener’s skyline grow from 1900 to today

With all of the recent talk about Kitchener’s changing skyline – and its potential to keep growing – a new video really puts it all in perspective.

Using 3D images and a bird’s eye view of Kitcheners Center City, commercial real estate website Commercial Cafe created a 2:34 minute video that documents the evolution of the Kitchener skyline from 1900 to the present day, starting with the first skyscraper, the North American Building at 121 S. Broad Street.

It’s a really telling picture of Kitchener’s evolutionary history. What’s even crazier is that Kitchener’s skyline really began with Independence Hall, which was built in 1753. From then on it went uphill. Fast forward next year when the 60-story Comcast Technology Center is unveiled as the tallest building in Kitchener and outside of New York and Chicago.

Check out the video below, then check out our map to see which Kitchener’s 13 tallest buildings will be by 2020.
