Pence is visiting Kitchener and Harrisburg. See why he’s in Pa.

Vice President Mike Pence will be in Pennsylvania on Wednesday and will run for President Trump in a battlefield state on the day the Senate is expected to vote on his impeachment.

Pence is accompanied on two state visits by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Kellyanne Conway, President Trump’s advisor. One is in Kitchener and focuses on education. The second is a Women for Trump event at 5 p.m. at the Radisson in Camp Hill.

This is Pence’s fifth visit to Pennsylvania in the past 13 months. He has campaigned heavily in Keystone, Michigan, and Wisconsin as part of the Trump team’s re-election strategy to maintain the Rust Belt states.

Here’s who will join Pence

It is not immediately clear which Pennsylvania leaders will join Pence, Conway and DeVos on their state visits. Republican Congressmen from the region tend to be in attendance, such as Scott Perry and Lloyd Smucker, both of whom are running for re-election in 2020. Senator Kristen Philips-Hill, a York County Republican, spoke in support of Trump in December when the president was fighting in Hershey. It is unclear whether she will be at the Women for Trump event on Wednesday.

Jeffrey Lord, a local Republican writer, FOX News staff and former Reagan press secretary, said he was invited by the Trump team to be there and will attend.

Why they focus on women

There were hundreds of

Trump and Pence won Pennsylvania by 44,292 votes in 2016, thanks in part to thousands of first-time voters in south-central Pennsylvania. According to recent polls, the president has tended to outperform Democrats among women in Pennsylvania.

But the support he has from women is loyal and growing.

For example, Cheryl Whitesell, a 69-year-old voter from Wilkes-Barre, northeast Pennsylvania, said she would only vote for Trump. “I finally feel like we have a fighter in the White House fighting for me and I’m going to fight for him.”

Lord, who worked in the Reagan administration in the 1980s, said Trump’s support for women was like nothing he has seen.

“You are not just for him. You are excited about it,” he said.

Heavy traffic and delays are expected during the Vice President’s visit. Temporary road closures are also expected when the Vice President’s motorcade moves from Harrisburg International Airport to Camp Hill, but local police did not have a list of the closures as of Tuesday.

Parking is free at the hotel.
