New York Giants Players Express Frustrations After Eagles Benched QB Jalen Hurts In Loss To Washington – CBS Kitchener

kitchener (CBS) – The New York Giants needed the Eagles to beat the Washington Football team on Sunday night to get a spot in the playoffs, but the Birds fell short. Now some Giants players are wondering if the birds wanted to lose on purpose.

Giants players used social media to express their frustrations after fourth-quarter head coach Doug Pederson pulled Jalen Hurts and replaced third striker Nate Sudfeld.

Broad receiver Daruis Slayton started a series of tweets with “Why on God’s green earth Jalen Hurts is not involved” and “This is disgusting”.

“They play the game to win at close quarters. JJ Watt said it was the best the other day, regardless of how it affects us. This is just disrespectful to the game,” Slayton tweeted.

You play the game to win up close. JJ Watt said it best the other day, aside from how it affects us, it’s just disrespectful to the game

Former Giants quarterback Eli Manning responded to a tweet from Saquon Barkley: “That’s why we don’t like the Eagles.”

“Can someone make sense of what’s going on …?” Barkley tweeted.

Eagle’s defensive end, Fletcher Cox, ensured Manning knew the Birds didn’t like her either.

“We don’t like you either,” Cox tweeted.

Despite speculation that the Eagles were intent on losing, Pederson said he trained to win.

“I trained to win,” said Pederson. “Yes, that was my decision alone. Nate has obviously been here for four years and I felt he deserved a chance to snap some photos. Listen, if there’s anyone who thinks I’m not trying to win the game – [TE Zach] Ertz is out there [DE] Brandon Graham is out there [CB] Darius Slay is out there. All of our top guys are still on the field in the end. So we wanted to win the game. “

Pederson also says that this week’s plan was to snap some snapshots to Sudfeld.

The Eagles finished the season 4-11-1 and last died in NFC East, which was the worst division in NFL history by numbers.

The birds will have the sixth overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.
