Kitchener homicide victim identified as 18-year-old Joshua Bennett

Waterloo, Ontario region – Members of the Serious Crime, General Investigation, and Forensic Identification Departments of the Waterloo Regional Police Department continue to investigate a Kitchener murder.

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Joshua Bennett from Etobicoke. Mr. Bennett was a local college student.

The police, in consultation with the family, released a photo of Mr. Bennett to aid the investigation.

“This pointless death has no place in our community,” said Police Chief Bryan Larkin. “I want to reassure the community that we have a dedicated team of highly skilled investigators who are working hard to find those responsible.”

Investigators are calling on anyone who may have been in the Paulander Drive area and saw Joshua to call the Major Crime Unit at 519-570-9777 ext. 8191.

Anyone with information who wishes to remain anonymous is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online at www.waterloocrimestoppers.com.

An autopsy is to take place today to clarify the cause of death.
