Rustic, cozy, and usually located in the country, A-frames are the perfect summer break in town.
Fortunately, there are some of these A-Frames in small towns around Kitchener, some of which are currently or all summer available for rent.
From A-frames in the Lancaster countryside to a cabin in Poconos, there are plenty of options within a two-hour drive of town. While most of these locations are year-round rental, they are especially good choices in the summer: many are in close proximity to nearby lakes or creeks, some have the opportunity to explore the Amish Country, and are just a short drive away all feature great places to lounge outside and soak up the sun.
Local, which has boutique hotels in Old Town and Fishtown, branches a little into the country. This stunning A-frame is just an hour from Kitchener in Dorchester, New Jersey. The cabin has been renovated from top to bottom and is decorated with Scandinavian and modern interiors and furniture. Water lovers will appreciate the fact that it is right on the Maurice River, which allows easy access to canoes or kayaks and is great for a relaxing summer vacation. However, it is a popular place. So if you’re keen to rent, be sure to check it out soon. Prices start at $ 250 per night.
Here’s a renovated A-frame in Lancaster’s Amish country. It manages to sleep four: there is a master bedroom on the first floor and a loft with a sofa bed. There is also a full kitchen with no dishwasher, as well as a fire pit near the deck for those cooler summer nights. Prices start at $ 109 per night.
Just south of Lancaster on historic Sickman’s Hill is this oversized A-frame overlooking a large creek. It seats nine people and there are two decks that face the water. Sickman’s Hill, a 19th century flour and grist roller mill, is a short walk away. It’s $ 150 a night.
Less than two hours from Kitchener, Acorn Cottage is in White Haven, Pennsylvania. It’s a modified A-frame for six people. There is a large deck and two state parks nearby for you to explore. However, you will need to bring your own bed linen and blankets. It starts at $ 95 a night.
This A-frame is another house adjacent to the Amish Country and is east of Lancaster and about 1.5 hours outside of Kitchener. But the drive is worth it: the house has a rustic wooden interior with a stone fireplace and an attic. It’s a countryside getaway, with the option of horse and buggy riding or enjoying nearby farms and a creek. It costs about $ 100 a night.
