2 Kitchener Spots Among Nation’s Best Meat Purveyors: Food & Wine

kitchener – Kitchener’s food scene is one of the best in the country and is increasingly recognized by big players in the food world.

Food & Wine said the “more sustainable, the more rebellious against the prevailing winds in a morally corrupt industry,” the more stores were selected alongside some stores that have been around for more than 100 years.

In Kitchener, Czerws Kielbasy and Primal Meat Supplies were on the list.

Here’s what Food & Wine says about Czerw’s:

In the far north-east, not far from a certain year-round known landscape gardener, the Polish immigrant Jan Czerw opened a shop in 1938 in which he built his own brick smokehouse and sold good Kielbasa to the population. Very little has changed except that the grandchildren are now running the show. One of those places that people who left the city decades ago like to return – sometimes for hours.

And here is what they wrote about Primordial Meat Supplies:

Local star on the scene Heather Thomason has become a force to be reckoned with. It offers twin shops, a delivery service and a meat subscription / CSA program that is always sourced from the best farms in the region. As anyone who knows eastern Pennsylvania can tell you, that’s a pretty deep field.

Other Pennsylvania stores and markets featured on the list include Cabalar Meat Co. in Lancaster, Kiefers Smoked Meats in Manheim, Kowalonek’s Kielbasy Shop in Shenandoah, Rooster Street Butcher in Lititz, and Strip District Meats in Pittsburgh.
